About Govind Shukla
I am Head, UK insurance analysis and product management, at a global technology services firm, from Edinburgh. For fifteen years I have worked in the regulated middle of financial services, insurance and pensions above all, where products meet underwriters, actuaries, auditors and regulators: the territory where a promising idea has to earn its way into production, and where agentic AI is now landing hardest.
I lead the work that turns operating problems into products: shaping the proposition, drawing the domain boundaries, designing the controls, and carrying delivery through to production. The case records on the home page – an agentic broking platform, an AI-enabled underwriting workflow, a pension calculation engine spanning 400 schemes, a five-team transformation – are versions of the same job: making ambitious technology survive contact with a regulated business.
Three convictions run through that work. Agents change operating models, not just workflows. Domain boundaries become risk management once software can act. And a human in the loop is a control, not a strategy – meaningful oversight has to be designed. If the case record reads like one argument, that is because it is.
- 15 years in insurance, pensions and wealth
- 400 schemes · 70% of pension calculations automated
- Live underwriting workflow · risk-function sign-off
- Defect rate down 25% across five delivery teams
- £1M premium in year one · blockchain insurance product to market
I'm particularly interested in ambitious product, transformation, and agentic AI problems inside regulated industries.
Earlier record: a blockchain insurance product taken from blank page to market launch (£1M premium in year one), and a voice AI product taken from concept to boardroom on measured operating results.
Deciding what an agent may do without a human in your business?
I have taken that decision through a risk function and into production. Tell me the workflow and the control that worries you, and I will reply within two working days.
